Good lord, it's homecoming week. Who in their right mind schedules Nebraska for your own homecoming? Minnesota apparently. Huskers are only favored by 26. Or 26 million. Anyway, Jon was nice enough to come on the podcast and say some kind things about the Gophers- and by that I mean he talked how terrible they are in a kind way. So listen for that and some good insight on the Huskers in their first year in the Big Ten.

What do you get when you mix the reality of a terrible football team with the reality that there's still half a season left? Um, let's just say it's probably not the most positive TDG podcast ever- and by probably, we mean definitely. Welcome to Gopher football 2011!

The Daily Gopher Football Podcast is back for the 2011 season as Jeffrick and JD preview the upcoming Minnesota season as well as their first matchup against USC.

Jeffrick and Jermo are back for more hard-hitting, indepth analysis of Gopher football...who are we kidding, it's another week of trying to find something to talk about with Gopher football. Plenty about the coaching search, Colorado firing Dan Hawkins, the worst coach in Minnesota sports, Jerry Jones, Rich Rodriguez, Mike Leach's mountain pirate ship, and more. We also visit with Joe Kutsunis, blogger for the SB Nation Illinois blog Hail to the Orange, about Illini football and basketball.

Jeffrick and Jermo talk about...um...well...Jeffrick talks to LVS from the SB Nation Michigan State blog The Only Colors and learns about the latest and greatest from East Lansing. Jermo and Jeffrick then discuss...look really, what is there to talk about for Gopher football right now? The team getting blown out last week? The team facing a potential blowout this week? Good times everyone! We fill 45 minutes with Gopher chat about not having a backup quarterback, why neither of us could stomach watching the Ohio State game on DVR, who were the Gophers four best recruits under Brewster, the coaching search, and of course, the coaching bracket (which starts today!). That and a whole lot of nothing. Jerry Seinfeld would be proud. Jermo wanted to mention the last five minutes- really the last 10- are really, really about nothing. Like if you turn it off after the MSU interview we wouldn't be offended. Hell, if you just download and don't listen at all we wouldn't be offended. Gopher football everyone!

Buck and Jeffrick recap the Penn State loss and whether there was much difference between a Brewster loss and a Horton loss. Buck shares some of his top choices for the new head coach, and the guys discuss some other candidates in the news this week. Eric from the Buckeye Battle Cry breaks down everything you need to know about Ohio State. All that and more on this week's pod!

Jeffrick and Jermo relieve Tim Brewster's glory days as head coach of the Gophers...ok, actually they talk about Brewster's long overdue firing, what led to it, and why doing it now was the right decision. They then go over GN's lengthy list of coaching candidates and add a few of their own.

Jeffrick and Buck recap yet another trophy game loss, and try to describe how badly the defense is playing right now. They also revisit THE 2 pt conversion call. Travis from Hammer and Rails gets us set for Saturday's game from a Purdue perspective, and Jeffrick and Buck finish up, dare I say it, almost optimistic about the Gophers chances against the Boilermakers.

The boys discuss the heartbreaking loss to Northwestern (the second in three years), what went wrong, and a lot that went right. Adam from Bucky's 5th Quarter joins to tell us what the Badgers and their fans are thinking for the big rivalry game. Finally, Jeffrick and Jermo finish up talking about the state of the fanbase, where we go from here, and what chance the Gophers have to get the Axe back.

Jeffrick and Jermo discuss a third straight home loss, whether the run defense is worse than the pass defense, and other uplifting events from the latest Gopher defeat.
